Can iron-on transfers be removed? Here is what you should know.
I have tested it for you – with the Easy Weed Flex vinyl from Siser – and will show you what works, what you should look out for, and how easily the vinyl can actually be removed.
My removal process
How it works
For my test, I tried to remove the Easy Weed Flex vinyl by Siser / ad*, from a sock.
To do this, I heated the vinyl from the back using the Siser Baby Press. You can tell quite quickly how the vinyl starts to soften again. Afterwards, I carefully peeled it off piece by piece with a pair of pointed tweezers. In between, I kept taking short breaks so that the fabric wouldn't overheat.
Important: Be sure to carefully test the whole process on an inconspicuous area of your fabric first to see if the material handles the heat well.

My conclusion on the removal
In my test, the Easy Weed Flex film by Siser could be removed completely and without any residue – and surprisingly easily. However, the result can vary depending on the material and the film. Whether other plotter films can be removed just as easily is something I have not yet tested.
I was really pleasantly surprised by how easily the film could be removed. Especially if you’ve missed a small spot – for example, while weeding – you can fix it super easily with this trick.
Personally, I wouldn't recommend removing an entire large print, but rather using this trick mainly for small mistakes or smaller iron-on transfers – that way, you can touch up your project or even re-plot it in a totally relaxed way ✨
